She chose the stage name Bea in honor of her late father. Bea also wrote an article published in The Guardian on her family's suicide experience. Bea was raised alongside her sister Sinead by Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer and a former professional racer. The family was obsessed with horses and race meetings. Bea was a guide for the Irish National Stud in her early teens. But she was aware, that racing wasn't what she wanted to do in a career and she preferred to perform.
